Daeida magazine ... beautiful!

PictureThe stunning cover of the current issue of Daeida, featuring Leigh Nash. Copyright Daeida.
A couple weeks ago I was introduced to Daeida magazine by a dead person.

I was in Hollywood Forever looking for the graves of silent film actresses, as I am oft wont to do. I had finally found Seena Owen, who I had been looking for over the course of two trips to L.A. Resting on her vault cover was a business card for a man named David who was with Daeida. It had to have been a sign from Seena!

So, of course, I contacted David right away to find out why he'd been visiting Ms. Owen who had been dead for decades. Turns out, he's a silent star fan, too, and he and his friend, Gor, visit the L.A. cemeteries often to pay their respects to Hollywood's late stars. They are my kind of people!

I ended up meeting David and Gor at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, and they took me on a whirlwind tour of areas of the cemetery I hadn't seen before. And they are just wonderful people! David also brought me a copy of their magazine Daeida, which is filled with Gor's photography. The magazine is beautiful, and that's why I'm including it in the things I like. It's a magazine about "Hollywood's people, passions and its past." It's a perfect fit for me! Please check it out at www.daeida.com. You'll be glad you did!

This weird photo is one of the many things I like.
I like lots of stuff across the board. Travel movies, books, cemeteries, books about cemeteries, writing, giving tours of cemeteries, history, roadside attraction, documentaries, helping people, collaborating with people on cool projects, hashtag wars on Twitter, some TV shows (@midnight, Parks & Recreation, The Walking Dead are current faves), Netflix (in general and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Dare Devil, Jessica Jones), Keanu Reeves ... the list goes on. But I am picky. While I used to go to every movie ever released in theaters when I was a kid (the 80s were GREAT), they're too expensive to do that now. And there aren't many times when I want to see many of the newest releases.

Because I like more things than just cemeteries (but don't want 100 blogs all over the internet), I'm starting this blog through my site. Maybe you'll like them, too.

If you see things in your part of the world you think I'd like, post them in the comments below or tweet them at me at @cemeteryminda.
