About Minda Powers-Douglas
Minda Powers-Douglas is the author of "Cemetery Walk," "Translating Tombstones" and "Images of America: Chippiannock Cemetery" and is the founder and editor of TheCemeteryClub.com and Epitaphs Magazine. She teaches classes on cemtery symbolism and history as well as on gravestone rubbing, memoir writing and more. She enjoys volunteering at cemetery events and doing her part to keeping our cemeteries "alive." Minda received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theater from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She is a native of Moline, Illinois. Minda is a member of Friends of Oakdale and has been a member of the Association for Gravestone Studies and the Alliance of Illinois Cemeterians. Minda enjoys researching the history, art and culture of America's cemeteries. She is also an ordained minister and has married a number of happy couples in Illinois and Iowa. Basic Requirements
• General indoor presentations are 60 to 90 minutes in length and use a PowerPoint slide show • Please provide: a power source, table, projection screen (or large white wall space), microphone (if venue requires one) • Optional requirements: laptop (Mac or PC through which PowerPoint may be used), projector • Outdoor cemetery presentations are 60 to 90 minutes in length and require information on the history of the cemetery and time for reviewing the grounds • Honorarium • Travel costs • Lodging • A $50 deposit is required to book a date for an event within 100 miles • A 50% deposit is required to book a date for an event 101 miles away or more • Full payment is due 2 weeks prior to event date (unless other arrangements have been made) • Minda's books and other related materials are available for purchase at her presentations • Will travel nationally and internationally • Audio or videotaping is only allowed for marketing or advertising purposes (up to 5 minutes) Contact Minda to inquire about her honorarium and lodging and transportation fees and needs.
