Oakdale Memorials Gardens Seeking Volunteers and Actors for Victorian Day Forget-Me-Not in September 2012
Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking actors to portray Civil War era people and volunteers to assist with Forget-Me-Not Victorian Day in September 2012. OMG is also seeking sponsors for the event.
OMG was founded in 1856 as Oakdale Cemetery (the gates still say the original name). The grounds include acres and acres of interments, a public mausoleum, pond 11 private mausolea, scattering grounds and a pet cemetery.
Since 2005, Oakdale has presented Forget-Me-Not Victorian Day, a walking tour of the grounds featuring actors portraying up to a dozen historical figures buried on the grounds.
