About Minda Powers-Douglas
Minda Powers-Douglas is the author of "Cemetery Walk," "Translating Tombstones" and "Images of America: Chippiannock Cemetery" and is the founder and editor of TheCemeteryClub.com and Epitaphs Magazine. She teaches classes on cemtery symbolism and history as well as on gravestone rubbing, memoir writing and more. She enjoys volunteering at cemetery events and doing her part to keeping our cemeteries "alive."
Minda received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theater from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She is a native of Moline, Illinois.
Minda is a member of the Friends of Historic Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Chippiannock Cemetery Heritage Foundation, and the Rock Island County Historical Society and She has also been a member of the Association for Gravestone Studies and the Alliance of Illinois Cemeterians.
Minda enjoys researching the history, art and culture of America's cemeteries.
Minda lives with her husband, artist Bill Douglas, and their daughter in Moline, Ill.

Grandview Cemetery: 16th Annual Cemetery Stroll - Fort Collins, Colo. Saturday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. 1900 W. Mountain Ave., Fort Collins Proceeds from the Cemetery Stroll benefit programs and services at the Fort Collins Senior Center. Tickets for the event are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 years and under. They can be purchased in advance at the Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive, Fort Collins, and at the cemetery. Tickets, if available, also can be purchased at the cemetery on the day of the event.
Grayslake Cemetery Walk - Grayslake, IL Sunday, Oct. 2, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. North side of Washington St. 1/4 mile W. of Rt 45 The Grayslake Historical Society, with sponsors Strang Funeral Chapel and Entwined, will host the Annual Cemetery Walk (a living history tour) on Sunday, October 2nd. Performances will be held at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. This event will be at the Grayslake Cemetery located on the northeast corner of Lake Street and Belvidere Road. The theme will be Grayslakes Civil War connections. This event includes seven costumed actors. Cemetery Stroll -- Maple Hill Cemetery - Huntsville, Ala. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2-4 p.m. 202 Maple Hill Drive, Huntsville, Ala. The Huntsville Pilgrimage Association sponsors an annual stroll through Maple Hill Cemetery.
